Hands Cave Rock Art
Patagonia Argentina
The remains of the history of the region are accessible to all. They are found in Argentina's Santa Cruz province and are indigenous cave paintings, dating between 12 000 and 9000 years. Some of them are in the Estancia La María, in east central Santa Cruz, and others in the Cave of the Hands, located in the canyon of the River Paintings, northwest of the province.

The Estancia La María houses the largest collection of Patagonian cave painting. The images, which are distributed in eighty caves were made 12,600 years ago by the first inhabitants of the region. The technique used in most cases is negative hand.
